During this year’s Pro Bono Week, Fenwick partnered with OneJustice ® and Legal Aid of Napa Valley to assist low-income seniors in Napa County. Fenwick attorneys traveled via OneJustice’s Justice Bus, which takes teams of attorneys and law student volunteers from urban areas to set up free legal clinics for low-income Californians living in rural and isolated communities.
Nineteen Fenwick attorneys helped with various aspects of senior estate planning, including simple wills, advanced health care directives and powers of attorney for financial matters. The group served 28 clients, who were grateful for Fenwick’s efforts. One client had the following to say about the clinic: “Coming to an event where there is so much knowledge (and friendly faces) to help us in our legal affairs is amazing—for free! Thank you all!”
The clinics offered through the Justice Bus Project provide life-changing legal assistance to low-income veterans, vulnerable seniors, children with disabilities, low-wage workers, immigrant youth, and families. OneJustice works closely with law schools, law firms, and in-house counsel legal departments to match volunteer interests with the regions and communities that the Justice Bus Project serves.
